Teens Discover the Power of Teamwork at Sky Mall Seminar

Bridgetown, Barbados – April 2, 2025
Over 30 students from Frederick Smith Secondary, St. George Secondary, and Grantley Adams Memorial School came together on Wednesday for an energizing and interactive seminar at Sky Mall. The event was part of The King’s Trust International “Achieve” programme, facilitated locally by programme delivery partner Supreme Counselling for Personal Development.

Titled “Achieve Teamwork for Teenagers: Building Stronger Together,” the session was led by Shawn Clarke, Managing Director of SMC Consultants. Clarke guided the teens through a series of fun, thought-provoking activities designed to sharpen leadership, communication, and collaboration skills—core components of the Achieve curriculum.

The seminar was anything but ordinary. Students took on challenges like the silent “Line-Up” exercise, a chaotic “Toothpaste Challenge” emphasizing responsibility, and the nail-biting “Egg Drop Challenge,” where teams engineered protective structures to prevent an egg from cracking after a high fall. Laughter, determination, and strategy filled the room as participants learned to solve problems together under pressure.

“Teamwork is not just about getting things done—it’s about becoming someone others can depend on,” Clarke told students, stressing the importance of empathy, resilience, and self-awareness in building strong teams.

By the end of the session, students left not only with new skills but also with greater confidence in themselves and each other. The King’s Trust Achieve programme continues to offer young people across Barbados opportunities to grow, lead, and succeed—one team challenge at a time.
