“Food is Energy!” were the sentiments of young and upcoming Barbadian entrepreneur Chef Khai Williams as he shared the journey that led him to becoming an entrepreneur.
News On The Go Now caught up with the owner of Chef de Williams, Chef Khai, in the kitchen at his St Philip home where his passion for food and health was on full display. When our team arrived we came upon the 27 year old preparing a meal of roasted lamb in red wine and rosemary mashed potatoes, heavenly scents wafting through the air. Healthier Meal Options
Khai explained that he was inspired to create healthier and more accessible meal options for all walks of life, as a better alternative to the typical fast-food choices.

When asked about the motivation behind his career path, Khai stated: “With the island’s diabetic and hypertensive rates being so high, and more elderly and even the younger folks are dropping down, losing their lives, just on a whim — at Chef de Williams I’m trying to push a healthy initiative, creating food thats nutritionally dense and good for the body and spirit.”
Chef Khai’s Why
He went on to add: “If you don’t have a strong why, you’ll find yourself drifting a lot. And you don’t want to be drifting — you want to have a reason to get up and do what you want to do.”
Khai also revealed that his entrepreneurial journey is not just about professional growth, but personal growth. He has witnessed family and friends fall short of their goals, and instead of being discouraged, he chose to learn from those setbacks, by shifting failures into lessons, he has carved a clearer path toward his future, pushing through adversity to unlock his full potential.
The Role of Sustainability
Beyond the plate, sustainability plays a key role in his philosophy. Khai not only incorporates local, wholesome produce into his dishes, but also grows his own vegetables in a kitchen garden, reinforcing his belief that good food begins at the source.
From the way he speaks, it’s clear that Chef Khai’s why is bigger than food. It’s about sparking change, one healthy dish at a time.
