Inaugural BimRoll Skate Fest

The Inaugural BimRoll Skate Fest is being held April 26-28, 2024 at Eleve Performing Arts Center, Wildey Industrial Park, hosted by Skate Kween Akademy (SKA). The first of its kind in Barbados in over 40 years, the festival will consist of four (4) dynamic roller-skating workshops for all levels of skaters, facilitated by international roller skater and coach, Jedidia Henderson of Rocs World, Florida. The schedule for the workshops is as follows:

  • Friday, April 26, 5-7pm (Beginners)
  • Saturday, April 27, 5-7pm (Intermediate/Advance)
  • Sunday, April 28, 11am-1pm (Beginners)
  • Sunday, April 28, 5-7pm (Intermediate/Advance)

Jedidia has been in teaching roller skating since 2002, when he was 16 years old. His dad put all of his children on skates at 2 years old and Jedidia hasn’t put the skates down since. He started traveling across the 50 states at 19 years old and that’s when he began developing his own style of skating. Jedidia has been part of the new growth of skaters doing TV shows like Disney’s Saturdays, several music videos, commercials, a skate university for all levels and other projects that helped promote the rediscovery of roller skating. He looks forward to helping develop the next generation of roller skating influencers & legends!

The BimRoll Skate Fest is part of the celebrations of the first anniversary of Skate Kween Akademy, a local skating instruction business that was established in 2023 since the resurgence of skating in Barbados after the lock-downs during the pandemic. SKA has been promoting a healthy and active lifestyle while also providing learn-to-skate classes for adults and children and fun-filled workshops, featuring experienced international and local skate coaches, for roller skating enthusiasts.
The festival has attracted local skaters and from around the world – Amsterdam, UK, USA and the region.
