Laff It Off 2025: A Hilarious Start to Love Month

Barbados ushered in the month of love with laughter. This was as celebrations ignited with a resounding roar of laughter at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre for The 40th anniversary of Laff It Off, Nuh Name Nuh Blame Nuh Lockup, held on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, it was a phenomenal success, playing to a packed house. It’s no surprise the show sold out, given the stellar performance by the talented cast. Director Angelo Lascelles, Janine White, Asha Elcock, Vilmore Johnson, and Ishiaka McNiel, delivered a comedic masterclass, leaving the audience in stitches from start to finish. Their impeccable timing and delivery were truly commendable.

The show’s brilliance was amplified by the inclusion of short, witty digital skits, adding an extra dimension of humour. The scenes on the main stage fearlessly tackled a variety of local issues, from the political to the social, with sharp comedic insight. The disbanded DLP members’ predicament, locked out of George Street in 2024 and fretting over their party’s future, provided hilarious fodder. The skits also fearlessly addressed serious topics like gun crime, using humour to highlight the absurdity of men exploiting women for financial gain. No subject was too sensitive for their comedic lens, with playful jabs at the 2023 Baje to the World Competition and even lighthearted ribbing of new local radio personalities.

Laff It Off 2025, which premiered on January 25th, is set to continue its laugh-inducing reign every Saturday until the first Saturday in March. Catch this comedic gem at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre at 8 PM. Don’t miss out on this hilarious celebration of Barbadian life! (News On the Go Now)
