Speak Truth to Power: Voices Of The New World

CARACAS, VENEZUELA – In a world where the fight for objective reporting is becoming increasingly challenging, a number of media professionals from around the globe have converged in Caracas, Venezuela, for Voces del Nuevo Mundo (Voices of The New World)  an emerging alliance dedicated to combating imbalances in news reporting and promoting collaboration.

Barbados Present

News On The Go was present on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, for Day 1 of the two-day conference, partly funded by the Embassy of Venezuela in Barbados.

Some of the distinguished speakers included; Venezuela’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yvan Gil Pinto. Christopher Helai, a freelance journalist from USA spoke on Journalism Stands Up Against the Dictatorship of the Algorithm. He made the point to rapturous applause that it seems modern journalism is under siege but encouraged that the fight must continue.

Fight The Algorithm

Meanwhile, Russia’s Mikhail Zvinchuck, made the point that it’s essential to fight the algorithms:

“It’s like everybody is using artificial intelligence more. It’s simpler than using [natural intellect].You stop communicating with people by using AI…Without understanding the necessity of the importance of using your own skills. Your own creative mind,” he warned.

More than 200 media professionals from over 20 countries, including those from the four corners of Africa, Caribbean countries such as Belize, Barbados, Jamaica, and Antigua, Russia, and the Far East, were present. Venezuela’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs fully sponsored the session.
