Power & Pompoms Bim Cheer’s Take Off

The BIM Cheer Federation Inc. successfully held its second annual cheerleading competition Sunday, December 14, 2025 at the St. Michael Secondary School.

Scores of proud parents, coaches, and members of the community gathered to witness the battle for points among students from various schools, as well as independent clubs across Barbados. Competitors happily showed off their talents and physical skills, keeping the audience locked in to their every move. The teams displayed their energetic, acrobatic and synchronized dance moves, love for aerobics, and much courage as most Flyers balanced from heights above 8 feet in the air.

The organiser of this year’s competition themed “The Grinch Stole Cheermas,” President of the BIM Cheer Federation, Dana Dear proudly shared her sentiments with the News On The Go team as she was joined by Mandy Marie, the Performance Cheer Advisor and Choreographer for Team Barbados. Marie, who is also a former international cheerleader, is excited to “see Barbados grow and become a strong presence” in the cheerleading sport.

The event was a great spectacle and many viewers voiced their interest in seeing the Cheerleading sport grow in Barbados as another avenue for young persons to remain physically active and positively engaged in their schools and communities.
