Global Spotlight Shines on Kensington Oval for Barbados Reggae Weekend

Pointing is Barbados Reggae Weekend Sponsorship Manager, Michelle Straughn.

The energy is building for next weekend’s Barbados Reggae Weekend, as Kensington Oval prepares to host a lineup that bridges local rising stars with international legends. Organizers have confirmed that burgeoning artist Mastaa T will take the stage, while the weekend reaches its crescendo on Sunday, April 26th, with a headlining performance by global icon Fantasia at Reggae In the Gardens.

Speaking at the site visit, Barbados Reggae Weekend Sponsorship Manager, Michelle Straughn stated that this year’s festival is transcending traditional markets and it is a great opportunity for all involved to get global exposure.

“There is a growing interest… it gives us global exposure for the island, vendors, and everyone associated with the event,” she said.

“It certainly contributes to the economy as a whole.”

Straughn also shared that ticket sales have revealed a massive international draw, with patrons traveling from as far as Ireland and Germany to witness the spectacle. This global interest isn’t just limited to fans as international media houses are descending on the island to cover the festivities.

In a first for Kensington Oval, the stage will be oriented to face the 3W stands, offering a fresh perspective and acoustic experience for the venue. Attendees are strongly encouraged to arrive early. With a lineup this packed and the promise of surprise appearances, you won’t want to miss a single moment.

For those unable to make the trip, the event will be broadcasted via a “comprehensive pay-per-view stream” reaching the USA, Canada, Africa, and beyond. The primary goal of the digital broadcast is to provide a platform for Bajan talent to reach a global “marker,” ensuring local artists gain the international visibility they deserve.
