Collins currently plays with Paradise Football Club. He describes the Barbadian football scene as one he loves.
“It is [a] passionate [space to be in] and growing [by leaps and bounds],” he explained.
“There’s a lot of raw talent here.” He emphasises strong community support. “The love for the game is real.”
He draws comparisons to his home country. “Back in Jamaica, football is more fast-paced,” Collins explains. Competition and structure are intense there.
Corporate Investments Needed for Football Push
He tells News On The Go, though, that business partnerships are needed for the development of the sport.
“More investment is in youth development,” he adds. This pushes players to higher levels. “In Barbados, it’s more laid back.” However, Collins notes, “the talent is there.”
Collins offers his forward-thinking vision. He suggests more investment in youth programs. “Coaching education would go a long way,” he advises. Better training facilities are also crucial. “Creating more opportunities for international exposure would help,” he believes. This would elevate the game in Barbados.
Barbadians are talented
He sees immense potential. “There are some talented young players,” Collins observes. With proper support, structure, and exposure, he’s optimistic. “Barbados could rise,” he says, “in the Caribbean football ranks.”
Collins’s passion for football is evident. “I love the way football brings people together,” he shares. “It’s more than just a game.” He views it as a way of life. “The discipline, the teamwork, the passion,” he states, “it’s what drives me every day.”
Outside of football, Collins focuses on self-growth. He also dedicates time to helping others. “I spend time with family and friends,” he mentions. Listening to music is another pastime. “I believe in staying grounded and balanced.”
His greatest inspiration is his mother. “She’s always pushed me,” he says. “To follow my dreams and never give up.” On the football side, Lionel Messi inspires him. “His vision, passing, dribbling and shooting are top class.”

Staying motivated during tough times is a challenge. “Injuries, limited opportunities,” he lists. “When results don’t go our way,” he adds. “It can test your mental strength.”
Collins maintains a strong mindset. “I focus on staying positive,” he affirms. He remembers his initial motivations. He also relies on his support system. “Jesus, my family, friends, coaches, and teammates,” he names. They help him keep pushing forward.
