BHTA Sets New Gold Standard in Tourism with Global Institute AHLEI Partnership

THE Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) has partnered with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) to provide internationally recognised training, certification and workforce development across the tourism industry.

Emphasizing the significance of the collaboration, BHTA CEO Senator Ryan Forde explained that the agreement will benefit tourism professionals as well as secondary and tertiary students by providing discounted rates and easier access to AHLEI programmed, designed to improve skills and elevate the talent pool on the island.

He said, “This initiative supports BHTA’s commitment to enhancing service excellence island-wide while responding to the evolving and ever increasing expectations of global travellers. It is an important step forward for the industry which will further develop our leadership capabilities, align more closely with the educational needs of the sector and reinforce Barbados’ position as a competitive tourism destination.

“The partnership will also strengthen our workforce by empowering our people with globally competitive skills. It will also drive professional excellence by creating clear career pathways for both current and future team members.

“Equally as important, it will assist our membership in hiring, training and reskilling of new entrants in the industry, all of which will support the long-term sustainability of tourism in Barbados.”
