Cupid’s Lounge: A Night of Spoken Word Magic with StonedwithCupid at Frank Collymore Hall

StonedwithCupid is set to take center stage at Frank Collymore Hall on October 18th, 2024, at 8 PM for his first-ever concert, Cupid’s Lounge

This highly anticipated event, funded by the NIFCA Business Entrepreneurship Prize, will showcase a night of spoken word artistry, featuring a stellar lineup of award-winning performers. As a NIFCA Gold Awardee and a force in Barbados’ creative scene, StonedwithCupid will deliver his award-winning body of work, spanning an impressive eight-year career.

The event promises a powerful celebration of spoken-word, theatre and music, marking a new chapter for Barbados’ art scene. 

For the first time, a show of this magnitude will shine a spotlight on spoken word, an art form that continues to grow in recognition. StonedwithCupid will be joined by a lineup of NIFCA Gold Medalist, Neil Waithe, Bronze Medalists Negus Knots, Deo The Poet, La Shawna Griffith, and Rae, who took first place at The Athlete’s Foot Open Mic. 

The excitement continues with PoeTree Barbados Buss Ah Rhyme Champion, Malachi Hope, runner-up Jeremiah “Prophet” Toussaint, viral sensation Ashley Serieux, and Honey Jam & Operation Triple Threat alum Zoe Sunshine, and singer/songwriter Ayana John. Also gracing the stage is  rising rap sensation, Iyah Badd and a dance duo consisting of professional dancers,  Saleem Small and Danico Martindale. 

StonedwithCupid will perform pieces that have earned him accolades over the years such as Cope, Suicide BomberIn The Summer, Family Affair and If A Bullet Could Talk as well as having award-winning artiste interpet his work Boys Will Be Boys and Prayer Chant. Their collaboration will create a unique blend of creativity, style, and emotion, giving audiences a fresh and memorable experience. Cupid’s Loungewill not only honor the growth of spoken-word but also emphasize the collaborative spirit that makes the arts community so vibrant.

In collaboration with the registered Creative Agency PoeTree Barbados, where StonedwithCupid serves as Co-Founder, this concert is more than a performance—it’s a testament to the power of community, talent, and creative expression. PoeTree Barbados has been pivotal in amplifying spoken word in the region, and Cupid’s Lounge marks another milestone in their journey.

Tickets are available at CS Pharmacy Bridgetown and Ishop Sheraton for $40 BDS or they can pay $50BDS at the door.
