Israel Savoury also known as Josh Boss.

Bridgetown, Barbados – Crop Over is buzzing with anticipation, and consequently, rising star Israel Savourey, known to fans as John Boss, is ready to inject a jolt of energy into the festival scene. Indeed, the dynamic young artist revealed exclusively to News On The Go Now his two new projects in the pipeline: a collaboration with fellow musician Josh Ox and a solo track poised to electrify audiences.

Finding the Beat: Inspiration and New Projects

“It’s all about the vibes,” John Boss declared in his exclusive interview, and certainly, his enthusiasm was palpable. “When I drum, I shed my worries and become the music. Consequently, I want my music to inspire listeners to do the same – to leave their troubles behind and feel revitalized by its energy.”

John Boss’s musical journey began in childhood, with a natural inclination towards rhythm. “My song ‘Heart Beat’ truly reflects my beginnings,” he explained to News On The Go Now. “From a young age, I loved making noise, drumming on anything I could find. Gradually, this evolved into a passion for creating energetic rhythms and sweet melodies.” Furthermore, he credited the comedic artistry of Seth Bovell and Mongral for highlighting the fun in music and his collaboration with Walkes in tuk for solidifying his stage presence.

Now, John Boss is channeling this passion into his upcoming releases. “I’m currently working on two new pieces: a collaboration with Josh Ox and a solo single that I expect will bring tremendous energy to the festival,” he told News On The Go Now. His ambition resonates in his lyrics: “‘I couldn’t wait to get on this stage, to jump up and down like I ’bout to rampage,'” a line from “Heart Beat.” Therefore, he aims to expand his reach globally, one performance at a time, with hopes of sharing the stage with his musical idols.

A Mission Beyond Music: Culture and Inspiration

Beyond his own aspirations, John Boss views his artistry as a vehicle for positive change. “I want to inspire people to focus on life’s positives by offering an escape through my music, rather than dwelling on daily struggles,” he shared exclusively with News On The Go Now. Moreover, he feels a responsibility to his cultural heritage. “I believe I have a role, as a young artist, in propelling Crop Over into a new era of prosperity, where our music unites people from all walks of life.” In addition, his commitment extends to preserving Bajan traditions: “I am passionate about tuk because it keeps our roots alive, and I’m also exploring sweet soca to broaden my musical horizons.”

Overcoming Challenges and Looking to the Future

While initially facing stage fright – “One of my biggest challenges was my fear that my music wouldn’t be well-received” – John Boss overcame this by bravely entering the 2024 Junior Monarch Competition, where he achieved an impressive 4th place. Furthermore, he credits his cadet background for instilling the discipline necessary to effectively manage his school, music, and personal life.

Looking to the future, John Boss has clear objectives, as he revealed exclusively to News On The Go Now. “My goal is to perform internationally and to collaborate with talented local artists like Mikey Mercer, Lil Rick, and Greatful Co.”

His advice to aspiring artists and young people, shared exclusively with News On The Go Now, is direct and encouraging: “Stay focused, strive to inspire and bring happiness to others, and remember that everything unfolds in God’s perfect timing.”

With his vibrant energy and unwavering dedication, John Boss is poised to become a significant force in the Bajan music scene, ready to share the infectious heartbeat of his island with the world, as reported first by News On The Go Now.
