A third cohort of students were officially welcomed on Tuesday June 9, 2026, continuing to bridge the critical gap between traditional academic qualifications and the practical professional skills demanded by today’s work environment. The Pinelands Creative Workshop (PCW) launched the Satellite Program – Facilitating Inclusive Development in Communities! This impactful initiative, targeted to individuals ages 18-40, developed by the PCW in collaboration with the Samuel Jackman Prescod Institute of Technology (SJPI) is supported by the Maria Holder Trust. The program acts as a powerful instrument for social inclusion, youth employment and community development.
The Bartending & Mixology course, being led by international Mixologist Shane McClean, was launched at the Centre for Hybrid Studies, Spirit Bond, Wharf Road, Bridgetown, and the AutoCAD course launched at the Marcus Garvey Technical Institute, Pinelands, St. Michael. These programs are designed to empower participants, provide a direct pathway toward sustainable livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and work in alignment with Barbados’ National Strategic Plan – Goal 3: Building Social Capital – and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4 and 8.
CEO of Pinelands Creative Workshop, Sophia Greaves, said the program is designed to equip participants with the skills needed to take advantage of opportunities in one of the country’s most important economic sectors.
The aim is to have more productive citizens by giving the opportunity to young persons to move forward.
Barbadians are encouraged to stay connected and aware of all that Pinelands Creative Workshop has to offer to grasp the opportunities to develop new skills. Members of the private sector are encouraged to connect with Pinelands Creative Workshop for the forming of mutually beneficial partnerships that will help shape a more productive Barbados.
