Bridgetown, Barbados-September 5, 2024- A recent incident involving a reckless driver has once again highlighted the urgent need for stricter enforcement of road traffic laws in Barbados. The video footage, which has been widely circulated on social media, shows a driver engaging in dangerous and potentially deadly maneuvers.
Director of Communications and Public Affairs with the Alliance Owners of Public Transport , Mark A. Haynes in a press update said that such irresponsible behavior poses a serious threat to the safety of both pedestrians and other motorists. He adds that it’s imperative that authorities take swift and decisive action to address this growing problem.
“The lawless act shown by the driver as circulated in video clearly underscores the point that punishment for such road traffic infractions must be enforced as a matter of urgency. This is clearly a case where he has brought the PSV fraternity into public disrepute,” the statement said.
“Moreover , it demonstrates beyond every shadow of a doubt that common-sense remains uncommon. He has put his own life and those of others imperil – no due care and attention was exhibited by him for which he must be called out.”
Haynes added:
“This was the highest level of disorder and the appropriate discipline should be taken against him expeditiously.”
The Director of Communications and Public Affairs said that this activity needs to end abruptly.
“Once again , l call on all PSV workers to forthwith curtail all recklessness and lawlessness on the roads of Barbados.
All traffic laws must be adhered to at all times. To do otherwise angers the public and , rightfully so.
All PSV workers are kindly asked to be of good behavior and conduct yourselves with the highest level of decorum.”
